Healthy Living Survey – SEAT LDAT

The LDAT team created an online survey for members of Bellfield Cricket Club to explore the impacts of lockdown on coping behaviours. The responses from this survey served as a basis for targeted education on stress management, anger management and alcohol consumption through Covid-19 lockdowns.

Family Harmony Sessions – WAAT LDAT

A series of positive parenting videos were shared via social media for users of LDAT partners – Wyndham Social Cricket League, Brothers and Sisters Foundation and IndianCare. These videos aimed to promote family harmony and help cope with parenting-related stress and anxiety during the lockdown.

Exercise program for SEWA senior’s group – SEAT LDAT

SEAT LDAT replaced regular outings with an online exercise program for lockdown. Participants were provided with a series of exercise video links, and given information on the benefits of exercise for physical and mental wellbeing.
17 Indian Seniors from Club 60 completed 10 Conversational English Classes. Facilitated by Wyndham CEC, in Tarneit, these sessions were held in person and then online during lockdown.
Geetha Chetty of Enlightened Mind, presented an interactive, practical skills workshop, in Tarneit, about working in Australia. Topics included resume and application preparation, and development of interview skills.
In partnership with SMRC’s Life! Program, IndianCare delivered 6 sessions on healthy lifestyles and preventable diseases for India SEWA and ISCAC Indian seniors.​
10 Conversational English Sessions were organised for 15 seniors from SEWA and ISCAC. These classes were conducted as group sessions by SMRC, Dandenong, and then individually during the lockdown.
IndianCare organised an adventurous outing for members of SEWA and ISCAC seniors to YMCA Manyung Recreational Camp, Mt Eliza, in partnership with AMCS’s ‘Moving for Life’ Program.
Interactive sessions on Family Harmony were delivered to Bellfield Cricket Club members as part of IndianCare’s Family Violence Prevention Project.
The YMCA conducted an exciting outdoor adventure camp session for seniors of Club 60, in collaboration with AMCS’s Moving for Life Program

IndianCare LDAT project funded by ADF, organised an adventurous outdoor day camp for senior participants of Club 60 at YMCA, in collaboration with AMCS.
In partnership with the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, IndianCare and the Chin community presented the learnings and findings from the two year Connecting Diversity project

ADF and IndianCare collaborated to run a marquee at the Wyndham Diwali festival as part of the Connecting Diversity project. This event focused on to promote the message of reducing harm from alcohol
Forums focused on related Australian Law, responsible drinking and the adverse effects of alcohol consumption were delivered to a mix of international students and Indian seniors. Facilitated by Jaelle Gibson of the ADF and Anu Krishnan of IndianCare, two sessions were held individually at the Multicultural Hub and Baxter College in Melbourne CBD.

Indian community representatives and staff from ADF co-designed a community engagement and awareness program on the harmful effects of alcohol abuse.
2016
IndianCare shared insights on alcohol consumption and related challenges within the Victorian South Asian community with ADF. This initiative tied in with our mission to better equip mainstream service providers for delivery of culturally appropriate services for our community.
